Project Overview
In 2020, The Charles River Museum will celebrate 40 years as a touchstone of New England’s industrial heritage. The managing team, Downtown Waltham Partnership, asked us to revitalize the museum’s external appearance with a unique sign that would highlight the museum’s historical nature. Once we stepped inside, we found our inspiration: The museum’s strong focus on nineteenth-century machines. We then asked our fabricators, Tim Goguen and Peter Nolan, to make the sign top into a replica of one of the museum’s many machine gears. The 91-by-48-inch sign is a double-sided framed aluminum blade with a changeable panel insert.
