Project Overview

During its long-standing relationship with National Amusements, Metro Sign & Awning has provided interior and exterior signage for several Showcase theaters in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Rhode Island. Metro designers have played a key part in bringing to life the Showcase Cinema brand, particularly apparent during a 2016-2017 rebranding project. National Amusements relies on Metro for careful attention to details, such as custom-brushed stainless steel finishing and tiny perforations allow light to shine through, provide the extra visual appeal National Amusements moviegoers have come to expect. In addition to offering turnkey service, from design through installation, for many of the theaters within a day’s drive of Boston, Metro has partnered with other signage providers to manage installations hundreds of miles away.

Project Overview

Metro Sign & Awning project managers worked with the City of Boston and YOTEL developer Boston Global Investors (BGI) for more than a year in advance before it was announced that the unique hotel would open in Boston. From providing material samples for review and approving shop drawings to working to obtain proper permits, Metro’s sales team and project managers handled thousands of details to ensure all signage was in compliance with ADA and city requirements – as well as ideally conveying the Yotel brand throughout the building, all well before the hotel’s grand opening.

Project Overview

From the early stages of planning the Wayfinding and ADA signage package for South Boston Waterfront Transit Center (SBWTC) design, Metro Sign & Awning partnered with Skanska to fulfill the signage package for Boston’s important new piece of infrastructure.

In addition to all fabrication, Metro supervised the union installation team for the more than 600 wayfinding and ADA signs at this location.

From our Partner

“There was an open communication between Metro, FMA and Skanska which, I believe, was a large contributor to the overall success of the project.” ~ Skanska Project Manager Mike Pugh

Project Overview

Boston Public Library’s venerable Boylston Street building, Central Library in Copley Square included all-new interior and exterior signage for some old and new spaces. Among the new spaces requiring fresh and patron-friendly signage: an outdoor garden area and specially-designated areas for readers of different ages inside the library. Metro Sign & Awning was proud to design, fabricate and install the weather-resistant interpretive signage for the garden, and to create interior panels to showcase specific spaces inside the library, including children’s and teen areas, memorial signage and donor plaques, as well as room identification throughout the completely remodeled facility.

Project Overview

Working with Suffolk Construction, we designed and installed a 21 panel, 20’ high wall mural for Suffolk University – 20 Somerset. The high pressure laminate (HDP) exterior wall mural required considerable engineering expertise and the utmost in coordination and communication to ensure the seal on the curtain wall and the panels would perfectly fit in the Z-Clip System.

The interior signage package included all room identification and ADA signage as well as numerous vinyl graphics.

From our Partner

“It was a pleasure to work with you and your team from start to finish… we appreciate your help working with us and the design team throughout the process… (and) your guidance and professionalism in getting this finalized as we needed to support the project schedule.  The quality of work from Metro Sign was great. The HDPL mural, in particular, is awesome– we’ve received many compliments from the Owner, Designers, and outside people that have toured the building… and we wanted to pass that along to you.”

Project Overview

The historic Charles Playhouse needed a new blade sign to tout the National acts that perform there. The goal was to attract attention for the performances and also highlight the Playhouse’s own brand as a unique Boston venue and destination theater. Metro handled the job from design through installation on the three-story building, including special permitting for traffic control and safety.
