Our Spring went to the Dogs (And Cats)

Metro Sign & Awning

In May we were helping brand the National Education for Assistance Dog Services (NEADS) non-profit canine center just in time for their grand opening.  And speaking of furry, four-legged friends, most of the signs you see around a lion’s living quarters say “Beware” or “Danger.” Our client, The Ecotarium Museum of Science and Nature, wanted just the opposite: a warm, inviting archway to welcome visitors to their new wildcat exhibit. We did not disappoint! A Pet Project The NEADS non-profit canine center in Princeton, Massachusetts, provides dogs for the deaf, disabled, veterans, children with autism, classrooms, hospitals, courthouses, mental health practices, ministries and prisons. Their puppies are provided by breeders and animal shelter rescues around the country. When they came

Six String Grill & Stage

Metro Sign & Awning

The Briar Group, one of our long-term customers, was looking to open a new restaurant and bar featuring live music at Patriot’s Place in Foxborough, Massachusetts.  We were thrilled to be called on for this challenging new venture, Six String Grill & Stage. They requested production, design and installation services from us based on conceptual layouts. One wrinkle was that the original as-built building drawings were no longer available. However, we were able to collaborate with several of the original stakeholders to fully grasp the desired look and design specs. With a few engineering challenges and a short lead time, this ended up being an exciting project we won’t soon forget. Creating the “Wow” Factor The Briar Group’s design firm,

Lessons in Middle School Remodeling

Metro Sign & Awning

In 1989, the Quincy public school system made the “honor roll”. That’s when the broad, horseshoe-shaped brick home of South-West Junior High joined the National Register of Historic Places.  The classical revival trio of two-story pavilions at 444 Granite Street, designed by Shephard & Stearns architects in 1927, has since been a source of preservation pride for this southeastern Boston suburb. Today, the venerated building has a new name and a new look. And Metro Sign & Awning was able to contribute to the Reay E. Sterling Middle School’s modern revival. Metro Sign & Awning gets an A+ for bringing in the job. Their attention and participation in the bidding process was crucial and they worked to value engineer the

The Writing’s On the Wall

Bette Davis once said, “I’d luv ta kiss ya, but I just washed my hair.” The tough-talking, Academy Award-winning actress was born at 22 Chester Street in Lowell, Massachusetts. As one of the oldest cities in the Commonwealth, Lowell has been home to many notable and quotable people not only in entertainment but politics, military, law, academics, sports, science, arts and literature. That’s why it was only fitting that Thorndike Exchange in historic downtown Lowell take motivational quotes from famous past residents as a starting point for their interior and exterior signage.   A Sal Lupoli residential project, Thorndike Exchange is a refurbished old mill building transformed into a mixed-use destination with contemporary commercial space and a posh multi-story residential

Delaware Valley Corporation – Case Study

Metro Sign and Awning

Sign of a Fitting Tribute From putting greens to Bose speaker screens, you’ve seen and touched their industrial fabrics manufactured for over 65 years to meet a myriad of consumer and commercial needs. Still, the Delaware Valley Corporation is not a household name you’re likely to hear even in passing. But now anyone passing 600 Woburn Street will surely notice the name on the new sign flanking the entrance to Dom DiMaggio Industrial Park in Tewksbury, Massachusetts.   Consolidating two manufacturing plants and moving their corporate headquarters here from Lawrence, Massachusetts, occasioned the new signage. The customer hired Metro Sign & Awning to design and deliver a statement piece that would be prominent and well positioned. Delaware Valley Corporation was
