New Sign for Cohoes Music Hall is More Than Just a Sign

Others  ,,

The Cohoes Music Hall is the 4th oldest operational music hall in the United States. Built in 1874, the Cohoes Music Hall is more than just a music hall to the locals. It signifies the culture and closeness of the entire community and provides a gathering place for various events. This historic music hall just received a significant upgrade to the outside of the building with the installation of an impressive sign that reflects its Victorian character, as well as its history, while adding a modern aspect.

More Than Just A Sign For Cohoes Residents

The new dazzling Cohoes Music Hall marquee blade sign is one of the most unique signs you will see. This projecting sign stands 15-feet tall and features halo and face lit channel letters along with a spectacular, attention-grabbing LED chasing light effect, which means they blink in a series to make them appear to be moving.

For residents of Cohoes, this is more than just a new sign, it’s a symbol of a city that has come together and is moving forward a year after a devastating fire affected many residents. Dozens of locals gathered to see the official lighting of the new sign, and they were all rewarded with a striking display of tradition meeting modernization. For a venue with such a rich history and so much heartfelt meaning, the new sign gives the residents even more pride for their city.

The Story Behind The Design

Metro Sign & Awning handled the entire process from the design to the build and even the installation. Designer Susan MacGregor was tasked with ensuring the sign represented everything the city of Cohoes stands for, as well as not compromising the rich history, tradition and vintage appearance of Cohoes Music Hall. With a sign this massive and significant, there were plenty of challenges with the installation, but the team did a excellent job of making sure it is reflective of the building’s Victorian architecture, character and history.

The age of the structure made this a particularly difficult installation, but the talented Metro crew was able to install the sign where the client directed. The result is a phenomenal sign for Cohoes residents and visitors to enjoy for years to come.
