A multi-million dollar renovation is underway in Hudson, Massachusetts. Developers are revitalizing the iconic Landing at Hudson Mills for contemporary use. When Mark Development and Manzo-Freeman Development began upgrading the treasured landmark with modern systems, utilities, and finishes, they knew they had to include signage to attract tenants. They called on Metro to build a welcoming focal point for clients and employees visiting the transformed space.
A Sign of the Times
We were excited to work with The Landing at Hudson Mills because the project was two-fold. They needed us to design and build an upscale and illuminated sign that had some historical elements. Our team worked closely with the owners to create a piece that could sit on their building with pride. They shared inspiration images of numerous signs and then we narrowed in on the design elements that were most appealing. What started out as a straight raceway ultimately evolved into a complex curved sign.
Once the client approved designs, we headed toward production and installation. We obtained the proper permits and then moved on to transforming the designs into a showpiece for the building.
Every project has its own unique opportunities to think outside the box. The Landing at Hudson Mills was no different. Engineering challenges awaited us. The historic building had limited structural plans. The curved sign needed to be built with careful consideration because its location was not an exact right angle. Furthermore, we needed to determine how the illuminated sign would receive power. An on-site electrician partnered with us to figure out the best way to bring the sign to light. We achieved success through collaboration between our teams and our client.
“…everyone is raving about the new Landing sign in Hudson!” – Alexandra Freeman, Manzo-Freeman Development
It was a privilege for Metro to be part of this major restoration. Our team was challenged to bring the owners’ vision to life. And we are thrilled with the response to our work, “Great job! Everyone loves the sign. I’m very happy how everything turned out,” said Scott Lombardi, Sr. Project Manager, Mark Development.
“We all think it came out fantastic. [The sign] has become the true wow factor of the building tying all of our renovations together,” said Ms. Freeman.
