Delaware Valley Corporation – Case Study

Metro Sign and Awning

Sign of a Fitting Tribute From putting greens to Bose speaker screens, you’ve seen and touched their industrial fabrics manufactured for over 65 years to meet a myriad of consumer and commercial needs. Still, the Delaware Valley Corporation is not a household name you’re likely to hear even in passing. But now anyone passing 600 Woburn Street will surely notice the name on the new sign flanking the entrance to Dom DiMaggio Industrial Park in Tewksbury, Massachusetts.   Consolidating two manufacturing plants and moving their corporate headquarters here from Lawrence, Massachusetts, occasioned the new signage. The customer hired Metro Sign & Awning to design and deliver a statement piece that would be prominent and well positioned. Delaware Valley Corporation was

Sign Materials Matter: When Plastic is Greener than Wood, and other Environmental Impact Issues

Plastics often get a bad rap, but many are environmentally friendly. High-density urethane (HDU) and expanded polystyrene (EPS) are prime examples. In fact, over a sign’s life cycle, some plastics are greener than wood. Because HDU and EPS suppliers know having minimal environmental impact is a competitive advantage, they manage their manufacturing processes to reduce waste. Also, many manufacturers use a high percentage of post-consumer recycled materials in their products. Financial and Environmental Benefits of HDU and other Plastic Signage Materials In addition, from a construction, financial, and environmental viewpoint, the new materials offer tremendous advantages. For example, HDU weighs less than wood, yet is longer-lasting and requires virtually no maintenance.  Unlike wood, the new plastics are impervious to water and insects.

How Real Signage Plays into a Virtual World

Earlier this year, a report by the Outdoor Advertising Association of America showed that outdoor advertising not only remains tops in terms of cost-effectiveness, it continues to be one of the strongest drivers of online searches.  How Outdoor Advertising Fuels Online Searches According to the report, outdoor advertising was as successful in spurring Facebook activity as were TV ads, and results were similar for driving traffic to Twitter and Instagram. If it sounds surprising at first, when considering your routine behavior it’s easy to understand the findings.  While commuters are strongly encouraged to ignore their phones while on the road, thanks to mobile devices, we’re accustomed to tuning in to an increasing amount of visual stimuli all the time, even while

Proud to be Part of Paul T. Gilmartin Arena Dedication

Last summer, the owners of Haverhill Valley Forum expressed interest in working with Metro to dedicate their arena in the memory of Paul Gilmartin. We were excited and honored for the opportunity to work on the project. The challenge was that the perfect location on the face of the building was all glass windows and the sign they wanted to have would feature illuminated channel letters. Our sales, design project management and engineering team worked in collaboration with the Forum’s electrician to create the solution to make it happen. Sign Designed to Stand Out (by blending in) The letters were mounted to a raceway that was painted to blend into the tinted windows. We then conducted a technical survey that
